What is the Cape House like?
The Cape House is a traditional, roomy Cape Cod style home with about 1,600 square feet of living space. The first floor has a kitchen with dining area, large living room, one bedroom and a half bath. Upstairs are two more generous sized bedrooms and a full bath with tub/shower combination. It's nicley furnished and very well equipped. The Cape House has large rooms and can accommodate up to 8 persons comfortably. There is a deck and a big 1 acre yard.

What is the location and setting of the Cape House?
This Fish Creek location is a great central location for exploring the wonders of Door County. The Cape House is in a residential area on the north end of Fish Creek in central Door County. After you go up the hill by the Top of the Hill Shops, County F starts and is the fith home on the right, past the Applecreek Resort. It has a big yard and plenty of privacy. The home is set well back from the road. You are within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

How far is the Cape House from the water?
You are never far from the water in Door County as we have almost 300 miles of shorline on the peninsula. The closest beach is the Fish Creek beach and it is 1 mile from the Cape House. It's a sand beach and has a grassy area for sunbathing.

How far are you from Peninsula State Park?
The entrance to the park is one half mile from the Cape House. Peninsula State Park is one of Wisconsin's largest state parks with 3,3776 gorgeous acres and 8 miles of shoreline. There are beautiful beaches, a summer theatre and an 18-hole golf course. Nicolet Bay is an exceptional sand beach in the middle of the park and you can rent bicycles and all types of non-motorized water there (kayaks, canoes, sailboats, etc.).


How well equipped is the Cape House?
You will find the Cape House nicely equipped. All linens are provided- sheets, towels, and kitchen linens. If you plan to go to the beach, please bring your own beach towels. There is a washer and dryer in the basement. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and supplied with dishes, silverware, pots and pans and small appliances (a drip coffee pot and filters are provided). There is a large deck with gas grill and an umbrella table. Toilet paper, soap, and a starter supply of paper towels is provided.

Do you allow pets?
No, sorry, we do not allow pets and do not make exceptions to our no pet policy. For a list of pet friendly accommodations, go to the Door County Visitors website: doorcounty.com.

Is housekeeping provided during your stay?
No, we do not provide housekeeping services while you are here.

Is the home air conditioned?
Yes, there is central air conditioning.

Are your accommodations smoke free?
Yes, they are. You are welcome to smoke outdoors, and on the deck, but no smoking indoors please.

Is there room to park a boat trailer?
Yes, there is plenty of room to park a boat trailer on the property.

Can we have an outdoor fire?
Yes, the Cape House has a backyard fire pit that you are welcome to use.

TV - Telephone - Internet?
The Cape House has cable TV and DVD/VCR players. There is high speed, wireless internet. There's a phone for local calls and the number is 920-868-5091.

Bicycle rental?
We recommend Nicolet Bay Beach Rentals in Peninsula State Park or the Nor Door Sport & Bicycle Rental in Fish Creek, one mile away.

Boat rental?
You can rent all types of non-motorized boats at Nicolet Bay Beach Rentals in Peninsula State Park. They have kayaks, canoes, and small sailboats. Pontoon boats are available to rent at South Shore Pier in Ephraim, across from Wilson's Ice Cream Parlor. They also have captained charter sailboats that are operated from South Shore Pier. If you'd like to a charter fishing trip, there are several that operate from out of Baileys Harbor.

What is the availability for the house?
The Cape House is available from May 1st - October 31st. From mid-June through Labor Day it rents by the full week only, with arrival and departure being on Saturday. At other times the house can be rented for shorter stays - always a 2-night minimum. There is a 3-night minimum stay for all holidays and the first three weekends in October for the fall festivals and fall colors.

What are arrival and departure times?
In the summertime check-in is anytime after 3:00 PM and departure time is 10:00 AM. Our guests must adhere to those times, so the housekeeper can get in as scheduled. During the off-season we have more flexibility with arrival and departure times and will work with you to accommodate early arrival or late departure times if requested in advance.

What do you accept for payment?
Sorry, we do not accept credit cards. Your personal check, cash or traveler checks are fine.
